Hi ! I’ve been crying these past few weeks. I keep on trying to be positive about my new work. this is my first time being a full time teacher. At first, I love my job. and now, it became less and less interesting because I got stress with work and my co-worker. They seems like they don’t like me, deep inside me telling that I might got bullied at some reason. I keep getting more work and work and got scolded. it is too much for me. I don’t know what to do, at some point I want to quit but I love my students.
hi @Pinky ,
firstly, thank you so much for sharing your struggles here. I’m sorry to hear how overwhelming things are for you at work - especially with the stress of your new job and how your co-workers are making you feel. It’s tough to love what you do but still feel drained and unsupported.
I can imagine how hard it must be when you’re passionate about teaching but feel like the pressure is becoming too much. The fact that you care so much about your students says a lot about how dedicated you are and they’re really lucky to have you.
It’s okay to feel conflicted about staying or leaving—it’s NOT an easy situation to navigate.
Maybe taking small steps to set boundaries with your workload or finding someone to confide in at work might help ease the stress. Do you think there’s anyone you could talk to who might help lighten the load or offer support?
You’re doing your best and that’s more than enough. Hang in there and do take some time for selfcare too
hi @Pinky ! this seems so difficult - i understand. i had trouble as well adjusting to my first job. we often have fantasies and imagine that our jobs will be like in the movies, but in reality its very very hard to balance workload, coworkers, bosses, and in ur case, students too!
please try not to be too hard on yourself doing new things is always hard, and struggling is a sign that youre learning. NOT a sign that youre weak.
do you have any other teacher who are new/came in the job around the same time as you did? maybe you can reach out to them and see how they’re handling the role? or maybe your friends who are also teachers but at different schools?
i’ve always found it helpful to hear about how other people go through similar challenges. u can give this a try? it might motivate you to come up with some small but actionable ideas to work through your struggles at work
sending you hugs!
sounds like you’re really passionate about your job! you must be an amazing teacher @Pinky . i’m so sorry to hear that the work environment and the people there are so difficult to deal with
i was thinking along the lines of what was said above — maybe connecting with other teachers in a similar situation could help. i wish i had more advice but if things don’t get better, maybe looking into switching schools could be an option? i really hate that you’re going through this. please take care of yourself and find a way to manage. good luck!!
what type of school do you teach at @Pinky? i’ve heard about bullying among kids in school, but i never imagined that teachers would also bully each other. i guess we can’t escape workplace politics anywhere, huh?
do u have any friends at this school? other teachers or maybe the admin staff? might be good to have some people you feel you can be safe with at your school
